1. What kind of technology is being discussed?
They are discussing biotechnology, more specifically the bionic limb.
2. What are the benefits of this technology? Who would it benefit?
There are many benefits of this technology. People with disabled arm can have it as a replacement and use it to do many things that they couldn't do in the past. They can pick up their drinks, tie their shoelaces, or even rotate their wrist 360 degrees.
This technology can be used for many groups of people. For example: people that were born without an arm or an handicapped arm, people that have arms which were disabled after an accident or perhaps very old people who can't function their arms anymore.
3. Are there any ethical problems with this technology?
This technology is pretty ethical because it makes some disabilities become a minor problem to many people. Those people can function their arms or their legs now and that makes them very happy, which is all that matters.
However, this technology can become a problem to the world if it's being misused. Some people with no disabilities at all can look at this technology as something that helps them to be stronger or work faster. This technology is not easy to make. Therefore, if a normal human being buys this technology, there will be someone out there with a disability but can't afford it and lose a chance of getting it. Also this can be something that goes against the nature. If everyone can have this technology, people will become like robots. So what's the point of being born anymore since everyone will become like a machine?
